JavaScript — Full Curriculum

By the end of this programme, learners demonstrate measurable competence in JavaScript. Through 4 structured modules, continuous practical exercises, portfolio-building projects, and a culminating assessment, every learner shows visible progress against the objectives below — supported by feedback from their instructor.

01 Performance

By the end of this programme, learners demonstrate measurable competence in JavaScript. Through 4 structured modules, continuous practical exercises, portfolio-building projects, and a culminating assessment, every learner shows visible progress against the objectives below — supported by feedback from their instructor.

02 Objectives

  • Understand and confidently apply the ideas covered in "JavaScript Basics"
  • Understand and confidently apply the ideas covered in "The DOM"
  • Understand and confidently apply the ideas covered in "Events & Forms"
  • Understand and confidently apply the ideas covered in "Real Data"
  • Complete graded exercises after every module with tutor feedback
  • Produce a final piece of work that demonstrates overall mastery

03 Content

JavaScript Basics

  • Values & variables
  • Decisions & loops
  • Functions
  • Arrays & objects

The DOM

  • Selecting elements
  • Changing content & styles
  • Creating & removing nodes

Events & Forms

  • Clicks, inputs & keyboards
  • Form validation
  • Small interactive widgets

Real Data

  • Fetch & JSON
  • Working with public APIs
  • Local storage
  • Mini project: live app

04 Knowledge

  • Core terminology and foundational principles of JavaScript
  • Essential knowledge areas within JavaScript Basics
  • Essential knowledge areas within The DOM
  • Essential knowledge areas within Events & Forms
  • How the different parts of JavaScript connect into a coherent whole

05 Skills

  • Hands-on ability: values & variables
  • Hands-on ability: selecting elements
  • Hands-on ability: clicks, inputs & keyboards
  • Hands-on ability: fetch & json
  • Independent problem-solving on unfamiliar tasks
  • Presenting completed work clearly and confidently

06 Key Competencies

  • Critical thinking — analysing problems before jumping to solutions
  • Practical execution — finishing real work, not just theory
  • Communication — explaining reasoning and results
  • Digital tool fluency used responsibly and safely
  • Collaboration — giving and receiving useful feedback

07 Values

  • Excellence: doing careful, complete work rather than rushing
  • Integrity: honest effort, original work and truthful reporting
  • Curiosity: asking questions and exploring beyond the lesson
  • Responsibility: safe, ethical use of technology and information
  • Growth mindset: treating mistakes as steps toward mastery

08 Learning Activities

Guided lessons

Interactive teaching sessions covering each module of JavaScript with live demonstration and questioning.

Hands-on practice

Supervised individual exercises immediately applying each topic — the majority of contact time.

Mid-programme checkpoint (Events & Forms)

A reviewed mini-assessment confirming understanding before progressing.

Capstone experience

An end-of-programme project or assessment integrating all modules, presented for feedback.

09 Teaching & Learning Resources

  • Dynamic Academy course materials and practice sets
  • A laptop or desktop with required free software installed
  • Internet access for research and tool accounts
  • Access to the student portal for announcements, assignments and progress tracking

10 Evaluation Guide

Assessment is continuous, transparent and feedback-driven: - Continuous assessment (quizzes & exercises) — 30% - Practical projects / graded assignments — 40% - Final assessment (project presentation or exam) — 20% - Participation & consistency — 10% Grades are recorded in the student portal. Parents receive progress summaries; learners always receive specific, actionable feedback.

11 Practical Projects

  1. Project 1:Starter project: applied JavaScript Basics

A small but complete piece of work using the first module's skills, submitted through the portal.

  2. Project 2:Build-out project: Events & Forms

A more substantial task combining earlier skills with the middle modules.

  3. Project 3:Final showcase project

A personal project demonstrating full command of JavaScript, presented at the end of the programme.

12 Learning Outcomes

  1. Think programmatically with variables, logic and loops
  2. Manipulate web pages through the DOM
  3. Handle events, forms and validation
  4. Fetch and display live data from APIs

13 Course Pathway

Learners progress through a guided technology ladder at Dynamic Academy: foundations (Digital Skills / HTML & CSS / Python Programming), then specialisation (Web Development, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Game Development, UI/UX Design), then advanced practice (Backend Development, AI Chatbot Development). Each stage's final project feeds the next stage's portfolio.
